Reported Speech
Hello Guys,
Today is 4 September 2017.
It means,
Me : "It's gonna be Autumn soon"
Ashley : She said it was going to be Autumn soon
Note the difference in those sentences?
We change the tense backward in indirect speech, or also called, the reported speech
The reported speech is used to tell what other people said directly to us.
In the sentences above, the direct speech (with quotation) is in future tense (be going to). When we use the indirect speech, the tenses change into past tense (was/were going to)
Now, this what i learned from LearnEnglish from British Council.
